After School Sports Club

Fairfield currently offers an after-school sports club every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This provides additional opportunities for students to partake in physical activities and develop their physical skills and fitness. The clubs are supported by Sports Premium funding  which facilitates school staff to lead and support students in a range of physical activities relevant to needs. Students are able to continue working towards their own personal learning goals in a fun and interactive approach and have further opportunity to access the resourced environment outside of school hours.

The after -school sports clubs offer a range of benefits to our students:
1. Physical fitness: Participation in after school sports clubs can improve the physical fitness and overall health of students with special needs, helping to combat the sedentary lifestyle that some may experience.
2. Social interaction: Sports clubs provide opportunities for students to interact with their peers in a structured, supportive environment, fostering social skills and building friendships.
3. Confidence and self-esteem: Engaging in sports and physical activities can help students develop confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of accomplishment as they learn new skills and achieve personal goals.
4. Motor skills development: Participating in sports can contribute to the improvement of motor skills, coordination, and balance for students with disabilities, which can have positive effects on their daily lives.
5. Emotional well-being: Physical activity has been shown to have positive effects on mental health, reducing stress and anxiety, and promoting overall well-being for students with special needs.

In conclusion, the after school sports clubs at Fairfield can provide a range of tailored provisions and benefits for our students, promoting physical fitness, social interaction, confidence, and overall well-being. These clubs play a valuable role in supporting the holistic development of  our students with significant disabilities.
