At Fairfield School writing is undertaken in many different ways. The pupils, through sensory and malleable learning, develop skills and experience writing.

Creativity, and curiosity, provides learning that enables pupils to be excited and engaged, using movement to make marks. Physical lessons further support pupils to begin the early steps of mark making.

Writing is celebrated throughout school and we value the steps each pupil will make. This includes the art masterpieces, the exploratory play opportunities as well as time engaging in lessons such as dough disco.

Where pupils are able to make specific marks on paper this is supported and enhanced though access to a wide range of provisions. Writing may be on white boards or marks on registers. This enables pupils to build an understanding that meaning is derived from marks that are made.
